When spring arrives, it brings with it a number of long-awaited changes. The days get warmer and longer, plants start to sprout, and everyone is subjected to a bit more sunshine. Ants
If you’ve seen a few ants scuttling around on the floor, they could be just having a look around. However, they might be the sign of a larger ant infestation. As ants are most active during sundown, do pay particular attention for signs of ant activity during these hours. If you’re seeing large numbers of live ants, then you may well have a problem. If you find them in your kitchen or in areas where you prepare food, then you need to do something about it fast. Ant trails in and out of your home or premises are another sign. Some ant species will lay down a pheromone trail to a food source. This trail leads other ants from the colony to the food source. A nest site can look like a small pile of soil or dirt. Some species of ant like to make their home in walls or other quiet, dark places, which are more difficult to spot.
Bees and Wasps
Being stung by a wasp, yellow jacket, hornet or bee is a painful experience and can be life-threatening to anyone who may be allergic to stings. However, it is possible to reduce these risks by taking sensible precautions when outdoors and ensuring that wasp nests or beehives are properly managed. If a colony of bees builds a hive around your property, or you locate a nearby wasp nest, any outdoor activities such as children playing in the yard or mowing the lawn can be seen as aggression, and stings can occur.
